2012 Family Summer Programs:·

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a farmer for the day? Milk a cow, feed the chickens, pull a carrot from the garden or make homemade ice cream? Family Farm Adventure provides a variety of programs to experience farm life on an organic dairy farm. Join our experience staff exploring one or multiple programs. Families are welcome to bring a lunch and use our picnic area.

Feature Programs:

Saturday, July 7th, 2012: Udderly Amazing Cows! (Meet Dana, one of our beautiful Jersey cows! Learn first hand how she turns lush grass into sweet milk. Try your hand at milking and making delicious homemade ice cream.) A collaborative partnership with Sebasticook Regional Land Trust (http://www.sebasticookrlt.org/)

Saturday July 28th, 2012: Pretzel with a Twist (Test your muscles as you harvest and grinding wheat from the garden for homemade pretzels. Learn the finer techniques of pretzel making from Eric Carl's book Walter the Baker while your pretzel cooks in our clay oven)

Saturday August 4th, 2012: Wacky Water Day (Who lives in the water and around the pond? Discover the abundance of wildlife using cool tools. End the day creating you own wildlife puppet.) A collaborative partnership with Sebasticook Regional Land Trust (http://www.sebasticookrlt.org/)

 

Program Times: 10:00 - noon········· Fee: $50/ program· includes 2 adults and 2 children plus materials

 

Farmer for the Day:

·Become a farmer the afternoon and participate in typical farm chores. Collect eggs from the hen house, feed a calf a bottle of warm milk , move cows from the pasture to the milking parlor· and graze through the garden for a tasty treat.

·····Program Time: 2:30 - 4:30 pm············· Dates: 6/16, 7/14, 8/18·········· Fee: $35 / family

 

Adult Programs :

Over the years, parents have expressed an interest in farm experience too! A chance to get away and enjoy a day or weekend of working with animals, exploring organic farm practices, gardening, fiber art, making cheese or homemade bread or cooking a meal in our famous clay oven.

 

Saturday, July 28th: Pizza Day ! Ever wonder how pizza got its name or where tomatoes originated? Spend the day learning about pizza. Grind wheat to make your own pizza dough.· Top it with homemade mozzarella (made with your own hands) and garden fresh vegetables. Then pop it into our wood fired clay oven to cook. In between enjoy the sights and sounds of the farm.

Program Time: 10:00 am - 1:30·········· Fee: $65/ person
