OVERVIEW

Linda Hartkopf directs the summer program at Hart-to-Hart Farm. She holds a Master’s in Environmental Education and Bachelor’s in Animal Science with a concentration in dairy; and has farmed with her husband for many years. She is an avid supporter of agriculture through school programs and tours and works with a variety of state organizations. Scholarships are available through generous support of a number individuals and organizations.

Typical Day for Campers:
8:30– 9:00 Circle Time
9:00-9:30 Barn Chores

9:30 – 10:00 Healthy Snack
10:00-12:00 Farm Activities
12:00-1:00 Lunch/Quiet Time

1:00-3:30 Discovery Time
3:30-4:00 Barn Chores
Camper to staff ratio is 10:1

WINTER VACATION HALTER BREAKING SESSIONS

February Vacation Halter Breaking Sessions

Youth ages 9 years old or older can help halter break our calves. Sessions are offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00 p.m. each day. During that time, youth will learn how to groom and halter break calves, goats and lambs. Each session is 2 hours long. Up to 7 individuals per session. Individuals helping with second session can assist with afternoon chores. Youth can sign up for double sessions

Spring Farm Camp is on for 2023!!

Looking for something exciting to do during April Vacation?  Than join us for Spring Farm Camp!! Each day is filled with inspiring activities and exploration and of course animal time with spring babies. Sign up soon as spaces fill quickly. SUMMER CAMPS

Down on the Farm

(Ages 5 – 12 years old)

Campers will have the opportunity to explore our farm’s animals, gardens and fields and discover how they weave together to create the farming cycle. Each day campers build a stronger connection to the farm and the origins of their food and clothing.

Campers begin each day with feeding and caring for the farm animals and their own “adopted” animal. Throughout the day campers participate in a variety of activities, games and crafts. The week culminates as families join campers for a parade of the adopted animals which they have worked with during the week. Returning campers will find new adventures awaiting them.

*One week reserved for campers ages 5-6 years of age.

III July 3 – 7 (Reserved for campers ages 5 & 6 yrs) ( 2 openings in this session)
IV August 7 -11 (FULL)
V August 14 – 18   (This week will incorporate a Junior Chef component) (FULL)

Critters and Crafters

(Ages 7-12 years old)

Let the farm be your inspiration! Use your creativity to find things on the farm and turn them into art you can eat, wear, write on or plant in! Make paper from vegetables, turn wheat berries into pretzels or design an unique planter. Campers attending this session have an opportunity to adopt their special farm animal and learn their secrets too!

Pioneer
Week

(Ages 7-12 years old)

Step back in time and discover a variety of farm activities kids did in the 1800”s. Make a herbal salves from plants, play traditional games, plow with a team of oxen or try your hand at cooking a traditional meal. Campers attending this session will also adopt a special farm animal for the week. New and Old campers will be in awe as the week progresses. The week closes with a special event for families and friends.

Farm Extravaganza

(Ages 11-14 years old)

Farm extravaganza is for the camper seeking an in depth farming experience. Campers participate in an assortment of farm and forest projects which teach them about sustainable farming practices and approaches to local ecosystems. The week incorporates team building and leadership activities where campers learn problem-solving skills as well as gain a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem, Highlights: adopting farm animal for the week. Optional overnight Thursday. This week is an unique program for returning campers as well as new. There is an additional fee for the sleepover.

II July 31 – August 4  We have 10 spaces available in this week

Camp Fee / Session: $350

Farm Explorer (On Hold for the 2023 Season)

(Ages 14-16 yr olds)

Ideal for those campers not ready to leave Farm Camp! A unique week filled with special projects and activities to deepen your knowledge with the diversity agriculture has to offers. Campers still adopt their special farm animal and can participate in the optional sleepover to gain the FULL farm experience.

ENROLLMENT & FORMS

Space is limited so enroll early. To register complete the attached form and return it with a $50 non-refundable deposit. Upon receipt, you will receive a confirmation letter and orientation package with health form. The balance and completed health form are due June 1st, 2021. Fees include a camper T-shirt with farm logo and healthy snacks.

Cancellation/Refunds

If you need to cancel, written notice must be given two weeks prior to the camp session in order to receive a full refund minus $50 deposit.  No refunds are given for missed days
